Green Brinjal(Gulla Badane) Chutney/Pachadi




Ingredients:

Green Brinjal medium size 4
Green chilli 3-4
Grated coconut 2-3 tsp
Onion chopped ¼ cup
Tamarind grape size (or little more)
Curry leaves 2 strands
Mustard seeds ¼ tsp
Asafoetida pinch
Salt
Oil

Method:

1. Soak tamarind in little water and extract the juice. Keep aside.

2. Coat the brinjal with oil and roast directly on flame till it turns black and starts cracking. Make sure it’s cooked well. Let it cool.

3. Peel the outer skin of smoked brinjal and keep the pulp separately.

4. Slit green chillies and dry roast. Keep aside.

5. Combine brinjal pulp, coconut, roasted green chillies, tamarind juice and little salt in a blender, blend into paste. Transfer into a bowl.

6. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when it starts cracking add asafoetida, curry leaves and onion. Fry them for few minutes. Pour into the bowl (step 5).

7. Green brinjal chutney is ready, it goes well with rice.
