Shavige/Vermicelli Upma
Ingredients:
Vermicelli 2 cups
Onion chopped 1 cup
Tomato chopped 1 cup
Green peas (Dry/Fresh) ½ cup
Red capsicum chopped ½ cup
Yellow capsicum chopped ½ cup
Water 4-5 cups
Green chillies 3
Dry Red chillies 2
Urad dal 1 tsp
Chana dal 1 tsp
Cashew 2 tsp
Ghee 1-2 tsp
Sugar ½ tsp
Lemon juice 2-3 tsp
Minced Ginger ¼ tsp
Salt
Mustard
Oil
Method:
1. Cook the dry green peas with little salt in cooker and
keep aside.
2. Heat ghee in a pan and add cashew, fry them and take out
from the pan. Keep aside. Now to the same pan add vermicelli
and roast it for few minutes in medium heat. Remove from heat
and let it cool.
3. Boil the water in a vessel add roasted vermicelli and cook
for 5 minutes in medium heat. Drain the water and set aside.
4. Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add mustard. When it
splutter add chana dal, urad dal, red chillies and green
chillies. Fry them till dals turn golden.
5. Add onions, ginger fry them till light golden.
6. Add tomatoes and little salt and cover the lid and cook
for few minutes.
7. Now add sugar and capsicum cover it and let it cook till
it becomes tender.
8. Add cooked vermicelli and green peas mix well. Add lemon
juice and little salt. Let it cook for few minutes in low heat.
9. Finally add cashews and serve hot with tea or coffee.
