Popcorn kernels 1 cup
Oil 3-4 tsp or butter
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp (optional)
Red chilli powder ¼ tsp (optional)
Salt to taste
Wide pan with a lid


1. Heat oil in a wide pan. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder, turn the heat to low.

2. Add popcorn kernels and cover the lid. Shake the pan. Within few seconds popping starts. When the corn starts to pop shake the pan back and forth or up and down over the flame.

3. Once the popping slows or stops remove from the heat and pour into a large bowl immediately.

4. Crispy popcorn ready to serve.

Note: Use a lid with small hole to release the steam. Care should be taken to avoid burning of kernels.
