Khara Mandakki



Ingredients:

Mandakki/Puffed rice 200 grams
Peanut 1 cup
Fried gram dal/Hurigadale ½ cup
Garlic cloves 6-7
Dry red chilli 5-6
Dry red chilli powder ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Coconut oil 5 tsp
Curry leaves 1-2 strands
Mustard seeds ¼ tsp
Asafoetida pinch
Salt ½ tsp

Method:

1. Heat coconut oil in a wide large pan, add mustard seeds. When it splutters add garlic cloves and fry them till brown.

2. Add peanut, fried gram dal, dry red chillies, curry leaves one after the other and fry them.

3. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida and salt. Mix well.

4. Pour the puffed rice/mandakki, switch off the stove and mix well. Store it in an airtight container.
